Migration Options

Option A — In-Place Upgrade

Best for: Well-designed, recently installed, and highly healthy SCOM environments.

An in-place upgrade is the fastest path to a supported version. Our architects review your current environment, validate health, remediate any blockers, and execute the upgrade with a tested rollback plan in place.

Recommended pre-requisite: SCOM Health Check to validate environment readiness before committing to an in-place upgrade path.

Option B — Side-by-Side Migration

Best for: Older environments, consolidations, or environments with significant technical debt that would make an in-place upgrade risky.

A side-by-side migration provides a clean slate. The full process includes:

  1. Inventory — complete audit of management packs, overrides, agents, subscriptions, and customisations
  2. New management group design — architecture of a fresh, optimally designed SCOM topology
  3. Fresh SCOM installation — clean deployment on current, supported infrastructure
  4. Management pack transfer — migration of all custom and third-party MPs with full override preservation
  5. Agent migration — systematic, zero-downtime movement of all monitored agents
  6. Decommission — fully documented decommission of the legacy environment
